Industrial Explosion Protection

Industrial Explosion Suppression
There is simply no better way to protect equipment and the people who work with it. Suppression begins with pressure sensors that can detect the signature pressure wave of a growing fireball within milliseconds. This triggers high-velocity nozzles to release an intense flood of suppressant, completely engulfing and cooling the fireball. This impedes further combustion and brings many explosion incidents to a swift end—with minimal damage.
Industrial Explosion Isolation
When multiple pieces of equipment are connected, an explosion in one can quickly become an explosion in all of them. This leads to an “enhanced” wave of destruction that is costly and dangerous. Explosion isolation systems are designed to react and create a barrier around the first piece of protected equipment. They are proven to reduce the risk of enhanced explosions.
Industrial Explosion Venting
Venting is the oldest method of industrial explosion control. It remains extremely useful when it can be implemented, and involves a blast-away panel between the protected equipment and the outside of the plant. Venting provides and automatic release for pressure from the explosion, but does not inhibit fire from spreading. Isolation should be used along with venting.
Industrial Explosion Flameless Venting
Flameless vents are essential to safe explosion venting. The design allows pressure to escape through the vent but inhibits flames. This makes the venting process safer, especially to the outside.
ASTM Dust Testing Services
Dust testing is required for many processes and allows you to determine whether your material is explosible or not, informing proper explosion control measures. Many materials have already been tested and you can go by existing data, but depending on your operation you may find that you need to have testing carried out for your specific material dust. IEP offers dust testing that meets the standards of both the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and all ISO requirements.
